Phee & Robyn: "We take a hide of full-grain leather and cut out each pocket individually. The pockets are then assembled using hand tools and traditional techniques. The wallet panels are hand sewn using a saddle stitch and the edges are burnished by hand. Burnishing begins the patina which is the aging process that makes your wallet unique to you."
Italian veg-tan leather: Vegetable tanning is the oldest method of tanning leather. Over the course of months, cow hides are put into multiple baths of tannins - a mix of natural materials such as tree bark and leaves. The process is labour intensive and expensive, but results in a firm temper leather which develops a beautiful patina. As such, Phee's uses this leather for all their wallets and a variety of other goods.
